Seniors: A few colleges are still accepting applications. I just received
an email from Linfield. If you are interested in Linfield College please go
to www.linfield.com and apply online. Just be sure you let me know.

Air Force Academy
Each summer the Air Force Academy offers two one-week sessions for juniors
going into their senior year to experience the academic environment,
physical requirements, team building, and leadership skills necessary to
become an Air Force Academy cadet. In past years, the Admission Liaison
Officers (ALO) were given brochures and applications to send to perspective
candidates for this prestigious program. This year, the Academy went to an
electronic application process to save cost and make the selection process
more efficient. Unfortunately, fewer students have applied as compared to
past years. I'm asking for your help in identifying students who would be
interested in this program. For more information and to apply, you and your
student can go online at academyadmissions.com. Look in the Admissions
Center tab for the Summer Seminar.

This year's two sessions are: 12 - 18 June 2004
                                 19 - 25 June 2004

To apply the student should have the following:

3.5 GPA or above (4.0 scale)

One or more of the following tests.

    PSAT (Verbal 58/Math 56)
    PLAN (24 Composite)
    SAT (Verbal 580/Math 560)
    ACT (English 25/Math 24/Reading 25/Science Reasoning 24)

Demonstrated achievements in athletics, extracurricular, and leadership
activities.

Seniors: Most of the applications have been mailed. Take a deep breath and focus on your academics! Remember, once you have been offered admission, the fine print states that this acceptance is contingent upon your completing your academic year with the same demonstrated effort. A sudden drop in grades could put you in jeopardy of receiving the dreaded "rescind our offer" letter. Don't let that happen!.

Juniors: It is great to get started with you all. I look forward to getting to know the Class of 2005!

George Mason has a fantastic art program, aided by the tremendous galleries
and museums in our DC area. http://www.gmu.edu/

Check out Savannah College of Art and Design. Our website is www.scad.edu.
We are located in Savannah, Ga.

Although UCLA is a large campus, the school of arts and architecture is a
small professional school within UCLA. About 1,200 students in whole. Also
are Art faculty and facilities are among the finest in the country.

The George Washington University has a strong devotion to the arts and
offers Bachelor degrees in a variety of art disciplines. We also have a
scholarship competition (Presidential Arts Program) to students interested
in visual and performing arts. The university is located in Washington, DC
and is mid-sized at 8,200. More info about GW admissions and the

The School of Art and Art History at the University of Denver. We have a

The Early Action (EA) deadline at Boston College is November 1st. The
following are answers to commonly asked questions about our process:

    - EA at Boston College is NON-Binding.
    - We do allow students to apply to more than one early institution.
However, we encourage students to apply early only to their top
      choice institutions.)
    - Early Action is more competitive than Regular Decision at Boston
College. (We aim to fill no more than 30% of the freshman class
      through the early process.)
    - We both defer and deny students at the early stage.
    - We notify students of our decision by December 25th.
    - Students should not contact us to request their decision prior to
      December 25th.
    - Students who apply under our Early Action program will be
eligible for the Presidential Scholars Program.

Aloha,

The University of Colorado, Boulder, will begin accepting applications in
September! If you are considering applying here, I encourage you to send
your application by October 1. Please let me know ASAP if you will be
applying to Boulder and I will get your name on the time-line for teacher
recommendations. I want to remind you that you must still ASK for the
teacher recommendation and inform me as to who is writing for you.

Please pay close attention to each EARLY action/decision program that you
are considering applying to. This area has become somewhat controversial
and change is happening on a rapid basis. Some schools are requiring your
signature and promise that you will restrict applications elsewhere until
you here back from them.

Georgetown * Harvard * University of Pennsylvania will be hosting an
information session in Honolulu, Thursday, September 25 at 7:30pm at the
Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort.

Remember that the CSS/PROFILE for financial aid can be found at
www.collegeboard.com. You can begin filing on September 15.
Check to see if the college you are applying to requires this form in
addition to the FAFSA.

Applications for Hawaii's Junior Miss Scholarship Program are in my office.
Check out their website www.ajm.org if you are interested. All applications
and transcripts must be received by 9/19.
