Google Book Search. Find full-text, copyright-free books online! In beta (experimental stage), but already a winner!
HUGE TIP: To find ONLY copyright-free (usually historical) books, go to Advanced Book Search, and click on "Full view". (Click here to go directly to Full View.) Google is digitizing these historical books, which are from the collections of the New York Public Library, and the universities of Harvard, Stanford, Michigan, and Oxford.
Any publisher can upload full-view books online as well.
Add one or more of these Google Modifiers (aka "surgeon's tools") to your search queries, to maximize your results.
