ScanningUse the Canon scanner in the Library or the UMAX scanners in the Tech Lab. To use the UMAX scanners, follow the directions on the scanner lid.
To use the Canon scanner:
- Logon as Scanner, password = scan
- Choose System Access as your group.
- Place your photo in the lower left corner of the scanner (look for the arrow). It will be upside down facing the front edge of the scanner.
- Press the left (scan) button on the scanner.
- The scanner will scan the photo and start Adobe Photoshop
Elements automatically. Draw a rectangle around the portion of the scan you want, then choose Image>Crop.
- Choose File>SaveAs to save the file you want with a descriptive name. Keep the default location. Click OK when the JPEG Options screen appears.
- Repeat the process for your other photos.
- Logout.
PowerPoint
- Logon with your own name and password. Choose the Castle Library Group.
- Start PowerPoint (in the Items folder on the Desktop) and a new presentation.
- Choose a blank slide (lower right corner of the New Slide dialog box).
- Choose Format> Background, and click the drop-down menu button to select a black background. Choose the Apply to All button.
- Choose lnsert>Picture> From File and choose the file you saved. It will be in Macintosh HD>Data Folder (local)> Date you scanned folder.
- Resize the picture if necessary by dragging the corners.
- Choose Insert>New Slide and repeat the procedure for the remaining slides.
- Choose View>Slide Show to preview your slide show.
- Save the Slide Show into your own Folder on the Desktop.
