How to Scan Your Photos and Create a PowerPoint Presentation

To Scan a Document:
  1. Use the Canon N1240U Canoscan Scanner.
  2. Make sure the scanner is plugged in to the USB port. There is only one cable.
  3. Position your original on the scanner, face down and flush to the lower-left corner (look for the arrow). The top of the photo should be towards you.
  4. Open Photoshop Elements, under ALL PROGRAMS, lower left of your screen.
  5. Choose Import From Camera or Scanner.
  6. Choose the Preview button to preview the image to the screen. You don't have to change any of the settings (75 dpi is the recommended resolution for PowerPoint).
  7. Drag a rectangle to choose the portion of the image you want.
  8. Choose "Scan".
  9. When the scan finishes, close the Scangear window by clicking the "X" in the upper-right corner.
  10. Edit the image using Photoshop Elements if you desire.
  11. To save the file, choose File>Save For Web
  12. Choose "JPEG" and "Medium" on the right side menu, then OK.
  13. Save your file on the Desktop, giving it a descriptive name.
  14. Repeat steps 3-11 for additional originals.
  15. Quit Photoshop Elements and drag the files you saved from the Desktop to My Documents or a folder of your choice. Delete any files you no longer need. Don't leave clutter on the Desktop.
