    Questions to Ask Yourself about a Website

    Authority
    • Who wrote the page (author)? Qualifications? Reputation?
    • Who is responsible for the page (publisher)?
    • Is it a personal page?

      You can check a site's domain name using whois.net to determine who sponsors the site.

    Accuracy

    • Is the information verifiable by other sources?
    • Is there a bibliography?
      e.g., Dihydrogen Monoxide

    Objectivity

    • What is the author's point of view?
    • Is there a statement of purpose or philosophy?
    • Selling? Promoting? Venting?
    • Sponsored?
    • Where do related links lead to?
    • What is implied but not said?
      e.g., Martin Luther King, A Historical Examination, http://www.martinlutherking.org
