lastid is a general term for chloroplasts chromoplasts and leucoplasts which are all storage organelles. Chloroplasts are the most important of the plastids converting sunlight to energy. Chromoplasts give fruits and flowers their color such as red, orange, or yellow, as well as function like a chloroplast. Leucoplasts are starch storage organelles.
