Enzymes Rule

Lab 2

Welcome to the enzyme home page! Here at enzyme central we are dedicated to giving you the best information on enzymes as possible. It is time to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

INTRODUCTION

Enzymes are catalytic proteins. They work to change the rate of a reaction without being absorbed by the reaction. The reactant that an enzyme acts on is called the enzyme's substrate. The product is what the enzymes convert the substrate into.

Substrate + Enzyme = Product

OBJECTIVE

To look at some of the characteristics of the enzyme and catalase. Qualitatively: To see the effects that an acidic solution has on an enzyme and substrate concentration, and to see the effects of the temperature on an enzyme activity site.
