ELECTIVES

JOURNALISM

The journalism elective teaches students how to write for publication. Students research articles through interviews or by attending events and then they report on the topic. Article ideas are brainstormed in class with students then deciding on which article they wish to write. This elective provides students with an opportunity to look at various issues on campus, in the community and even globally with an objective eye. Students produce a minimum of four newspaper issues each year.

YEARBOOK

The yearbook class consists of many different types of mediums; these include working with the computer, taking artistic and interesting photos, writing captivating editorials, and even organizing money and sales.  All of these activities are combined to create a class that is suitable as well as enjoyable for any Seabury Hall student.  Students coming into the class can learn any of the skills needed to complete their job, and every student will be able to contribute to the yearbook in their own way.  Each person will have the ability to express his or her ideas and thoughts openly in order to create a student-based yearbook, which comes directly from the student’s input.  Students in the class will work on individual pages assigned to match their interests and abilities.  Through this process students will be able to capture memories that will be remembered forever.
