Internet and Print Resources 

The internet is a wealth of information, especially in the college admission process.  Since the college admissions industry has greatly expanded because of the internet, we caution parents and students to use caution when reading blogs, articles, or comments on websites.  Some sites may claim to present factual information when in reality it is opinion based.  Please use a discerning eye when reviewing information.  Here are a few internet resources we recommend:
 
Major Websites
Get Advice, Search, Register and Prepare for Tests, and Apply Online.
Naviance Family Connection - Naviance is a great place to start the online college search.
The College Board - An organization of colleges and high schools. The site includes advice for students and parents, Big Future- a college search program, and everything you need to know about SAT testing and the CSS Financial Aid Profile.  
ACT - The official site of the ACT.  It includes college searches, online applications, advice and timelines, financial aid information and estimator, and lots of information on the ACT tests.  
Common Application - The official site from which a student can download the application, view the list of participating colleges, and get application information. 
www.number2.com - A great site that offers free SAT and ACT test preparation practice.
Campus Tours - This site includes virtual college tours, web cams, campus maps, college videos, movies and pictures.  
College Net - A handy short cut college search engine.  
Peterson's - The site of the company that publishes the guidebooks. The site includes a college search, information on financial aid, test prep information, online applications, and information on colleges. It also includes information on careers and is one of the best sources for information on summer programs. 
The Princeton Review - The test prep company. The site includes a college search, advice, information on scholarships and financial aid, discussion groups, online applications, and lots of information on the company's courses and books.  
Kaplan - The test prep company. The site includes college search and application information, graduate program information, and lots of information on the company's courses and books.

College Lists and Specialized Colleges
Women's Colleges - Yahoo's list of women's colleges and links to their websites.  
Catholic Colleges - Site includes a directory of member institutions of the National Catholic College Admission Association; as well as a common application to download. 
Canadian Colleges - Canadian government site with links to all colleges and universities in Canada.

Australearn - Great site for students interested in studying in Australia or New Zealand.  
Directory of Art schools - Searchable by Name, US State and Major with free Information Request Options.  
General School Directory - A comprehensive overview of education providers specialized in famous majors and degrees.  
 
Majors and Careers
Majors - Search for college program by specific major.  
Art Schools - Links and helpful information for the student considering a career in art or design. This is the site of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.  
 
Students with Learning Disabilities
National Center for Learning Disabilities- With a range of resources, this is a great starting point for families interested in learning what future resources are available in college. www.ncld.org/
Kaarme- This is a helpful website as it provides a list of resources colleges offer for students with disabilities. kaarme.com/Learning_Disability_College_Programs
LDonline- This website is a great resource for families, educators, and students.  This site contains helpful information that spans k12 and post secondary education. www.ldonline.org/
 
Student Athletes
NCAA Eligibility Center- Formally known as the NCAA clearinghouse, the revised NCAA Eligibility Center is the first website that student athletes should visit.  Future college student athletes can register to play DI and/or DII sports.web1.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.jsp
NAIA- Not every school is associated with the NCAA as there are two leagues.  The other league is National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Student athletes should also look at the NAIA.  http://www.naia.org/
 
International Students
Edupass.org- I highly recommend this resource for students interested in studying in the United States.  The site is supported by professionals that are available assist students with any questions they have. www.edupass.org
International Student- This is a great starting point for students interested in studying in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.  From financial aid to testing information, there is a wealth of information for students and parents.www.internationalstudent.com
TOEFL - The official homepage for the TOEFL, Test of English as a Foreign Language, exam. www.toefl.org 
UCAS- Students interested in higher education in the United Kingdom should look at the UCAS website.  It is the one stop resource for testing requirements, how to apply, and course requirements. www.ucas.com/
 
Other resources
NACAC- The National Association for College Admissions Counseling is a great resource for college admission and college counseling professions, however it is also great for students and parents.http://www.nacacnet.org/studentinfo/Pages/Default.aspx#ui-tab-panel00
