Middle School Program

The primary Middle School educational goals, within a rigorous academic curriculum, are to cultivate the joy of learning among the students, develop a sense of community and assist them in becoming independent learners.

The program requirements are as follows:

6th Grade:
English (Double Block)
World Geography

Arts and Technology Program
Physical Education
* The first quarter in the 6th grade is a non-graded quarter.

7th grade:
Hawaiian History/Pacific Island Studies

The Arts and Technology Program includes: 
Art, Band, Chorus, Drama, and Technology.

The 7th and 8th grade Quarter Exploratories may include: 
Art: Painting & Drawing, Ceramics, Pen Portrait, Mixed Media, Band:  Band, Strings/Orchestra, Digital Music/Percussions/Drumming Chorus:  Songwriting, Drama:  Pantomime, 7C’s of Acting, Set Design Construction, Comedy for the Curious, Technology:  Robotics, Film, Hiki Nō, Makers Lab (3D Printing, Laser Printing), Coding.  Math Counts, Science Olympiad, Gardening, & Psychology.

The goal of the Middle School Physical Education program is to provide exposure and opportunity to try a wide variety of physical activities. Four sessions of PE classes are offered in each 6 day rotation. Quarterly options for 7th and 8th graders are general P.E., Dance, or Yoga/Pilates.

Dance is available to grades 6, 7, and 8 after school on three levels.

Community Service is required of all three grade levels. Sixth graders complete at least 10 hours of service to Seabury Hall. Seventh & eighth graders volunteer a minimum of 10 hours of service to the greater Maui community per year.
