Seabury’s annual Holiday Performing Arts Concert features all levels of our dance program, along with music and drama guest performances. For two nights only enjoy complimentary desserts and beverages in the lobby and celebrate the performing arts with its most fierce supporters – our students!
This years highlights: a mini musical review! The Best of Broadway features nine talented students performing songs from 50’s musicals such as Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, The King and I, and My Fair Lady.
Directed and choreographed by David Ward with vocal direction by Molly Schad, this historical journey through the fabulous 1950s “introduces our students to some of the all-time great musicals, while developing a vibrant and cohesive musical theater program at Seabury Hall.”
Other highlights of the evening include Downpour a new work by André Morissette that features live music performed by two talented Seabury freshman Jonathan Merchant ‘21 and Kala’i Anderson ‘21. They will be performing on piano the Waltz from Masquerade by Soviet Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian. Morissette is also resetting Eighth Period, a look at the end of a school day, on Level C.
Ballet Mistress Vanessa Cerrito is choreographing two new dances: Clockwork, a look at the playful and mechanical workings of clocks and Eight, a new fast paced neo-classical piece.
Ward is also reviving a work he originally created in 1992 on the first Seabury Hall Dance Ensemble. With music by K. D. Lang, Lifted explores the process of healing after the loss of a friend. Five dancers find love and support while working together to build a quilt in memory of their loved one.
We can now take credit cards (and checks) at the door as well!
