Both the Seabury Hall boys and girls cross country teams captured state runner-up honors at the HHSAA Cross Country championships held at Oahu's central regional park this past weekend. Leading the way for the boy's team was Cole Davidson who finished 15th overall. On the girls side, Chloe Gangnath crushed the competition finishing first by the largest margin of victory ever--almost 50 seconds--to take the individual overall state title. GO SPARTANS!!!
They say good things come in 3's and this past weekend (10/20/18) Spartan athletes surely confirmed that old adage by capturing 3 MIL championships!!! The momentous weekend started with the girls volleyball team defeating Hana 3-0 for the MIL crown at "The Barn" on Molokai and culminated on Saturday with the boys and girls cross country teams pulling the double MIL championship right around the corner at King Kekaulike. All three teams now move on to the state championships on Oahu this weekend. GO SPARTANS!!!
The Spartan boys cross country team triumphed once again in the boys JV cross country championships by capturing their third straight title! They ran to a sound victory with a score of 38 points, beating second place finisher, Maui High School, by 14 points. Ka'eo Keomaka led the way taking the individual title and Parker Churchill turned in a gutty performance finishing second place overall.
The Seabury Hall girls track team put forth a strong effort in last weekend's HHSAA state track meet hosted at Kamehameha Kapalama. Leading the way to the Lady Spartan's 2nd place finish was Seabury's female athlete of the year, Veronica Winham, taking 1st in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m. Congratulations and GO SPARTANS!!!
The girls track team made history by winning their sixth consecutive MIL track team championship! Led by a strong performance from the most outstanding female athlete of the meet - Veronica Winham - the Spartan girls garnered 155 pts cruising to the historic victory. On the boys side, Isaiah Payne and Noah Payne also made a little history by virtue of their one - two finish in the 100 m dash; the first time two brothers have finished 1st and 2nd as well as the first two male Spartan athletes to win first and second in the 100. A large number of Spartan athletes will make their way to the HHSAA state track meet, May 11-12, 2018 on Oahu. Congratulations to all and as always, GO SPARTANS!!!
The Seabury Hall paddling program once again displayed their prowess at the HHSAA Canoe Paddling Regatta at Hilo Bay. The Spartan mixed crew - behind the leadership of head coach Paul Lu'uwai - won their 3rd consecutive state championship with the deft steering of senior Dylan Newbro and powered by Ha'ena Balinbin, Ashton Kubo, Kai Ponting, Robert Gibbons, Kiana Hyman, Taysia Pimentel, Kaya Givensel, Shea Stisher, and Amber Proctor. GO SPARTANS!!!
The Spartan boys paddling team kept their impressive streak of wins intact by defeating all comers to capture another paddling championship. Unrivaled throughout the MIL season, they now advance to the HHSAA state championships February 3rd in Hilo. GO SPARTANS!
The Spartan girls basketball team won their second consecutive MIL basketball championship in front of their home fans last Friday night (1/26/18). They defeated a scrappy Lanai team 49-41, earning a berth in the HHSAA state tournament starting this Wednesday (1/31/18) on Oahu. GO SPARTANS!
