Seabury Hall College Counseling (SH CoCo) Philosophy

The Seabury Hall College Counseling, SH CoCo, program is intentional, collaborative, and individual.

With the increasingly complex changes in the college admissions and financial landscape, we empower students to own their admissions process and equip families with relevant and timely information to assist their students confidently. We believe that the college admissions process is about finding the best-fit institution for each student and work closely with each family to support their priorities and goals.

We are proud to honor the work of our graduates over the past decade by sharing that 100% of our students have been admitted to a four-year college or university. Through close relationships with our students and families, collaboration with our college admissions representative ʻohana, and meticulous planning, we aspire to continue this achievement with each class.

SH CoCo by Grade Level

9th grade is an exciting time and the perfect year for students to try new activities and explore existing passions further. We recommend that students reflect on what is important to them and find opportunities that align and further their development.

As students progress to the 10th grade, we encourage them to hone in on activities of personal interest and try on applicable leadership roles. Students can take this same approach and apply it to their academics by challenging themselves to rigor-appropriate classes in academic areas of interest.

The 11th grade is our favorite year as students begin to define their college plans. We encourage students to develop a fit criteria consisting of academic, non-academic, and financial information. This will serve as the roadmap when researching colleges and building an application list. We recommend that students research colleges, draft a college essay, and attend college information sessions.

The final year of high school is a great celebration of accomplishments and achievements! 12th-grade students build off of their work in the 11th grade by applying to colleges that are a good fit for them and their family. There are a lot of important application, financial aid, and scholarship deadlines to keep track of, and it can feel overwhelming. Relax, you got this! Our best advice is to get organized and focused in order to stay on track.
