8th Grade Project Details
As part of the 8th Grade Project, each 8th Grade student is required to submit a Prospectus—a formal proposal outlining their intended project topic. This Prospectus will be due on the first day we return to school. At that time, the 8th Grade advisory team, along with Mr. Walsh, will carefully review each student’s proposed idea and provide constructive feedback.
Past experience shows that some students propose projects that are overly ambitious for the time frame, while others may select topics that do not fully explore their potential. More often, proposed topics are well-suited to the project timeline and goals. Our objective is to help students identify the just-right, “Goldilocks” project—one that is appropriately challenging, feasible, and engaging. With our guidance, students will refine their ideas to ensure a successful and rewarding project experience.
Below, you will find a link to the Prospectus assignment instructions, as well as a link to the Seabury Hall 8th Grade Project website. The website contains sample project topics, a comprehensive list of assignments throughout the year, and examples of completed projects to inspire and inform your work.
Mandatory summer enrichment assignments are implemented to ensure continuous learning and intellectual engagement for students during the summer break. By staying engaged, students can retain and reinforce their knowledge, making a smoother transition into the next grade level. Additionally, these assignments provide an opportunity for students to explore subjects in greater depth, foster a love for lifelong learning, and develop independent study habits that are crucial for academic success.

English
The assessments for summer reading will be in essay format during the first two weeks of school and will evaluate both reading comprehension and writing skills.  Students are required to annotate the text -- and these annotations will be assessed as an assignment as well.

In addition to the assigned reading, we ask all grade levels to read a second book of their choice.
Mathematics
Next year’s math course will be fun and challenging. To help you begin with confidence, we’ve prepared a  summer assignment on the online platform Delta Math. This assignment includes seven sets designed to review essential skills from previous courses. We recommend spending 30–40 minutes each week on each assignment (Assignment 1, Assignment 2, etc.) rather than waiting until the end of the summer. The goal is consistent practice to build fluency and confidence over time. To receive full credit, you must show and submit your work to your teacher.
More directions are provided in the links below. Please click on the link after checking your schedule and thoroughly read the assignment before beginning.

Science
Science summer packets are designed to keep students engaged with scientific concepts and critical thinking skills over the summer break. Students will be graded on the completion of all assigned tasks within the packet. Every section should be attempted to ensure exposure to the full range of material. Grades will reflect the effort put into each activity. This includes thoughtful answers, thorough explanations, and a clear attempt to understand and engage with the content. Perfection is not expected. The focus is on participation, genuine effort, and a willingness to explore and learn. Please note: all science summer assignments may be accessed when logged into your Seabury hall email/google account.
World Languages
Complete the assignment for your class only. Students will be assessed on the summer enrichment assignments during the first two weeks of school.
  • Spanish 2- Explore listening to music from a minimum of four Spanish-speaking artists. Be prepared in August to share your favorite tracks with the class, and compare/contrast the different music styles, lyrics, home country/culture of the artists, and general information about the artists. Watch Three of the following films. Be sure to have the language set to Spanish (you can put subtitles in English):  2025-2026 Summer Enrichment Spanish 2H
